The Applied Ergonomics Team is delighted to have made a renewed commitment to partnership with Bakker Elkhuizen during their recent "re-introduction" to the American market. The brand has made a much bigger footprint in northern Europe than in the US as of this writing, but we're out to help them change that by bringing their most popular European styles to the forefront, like the FlexDesk 640 Document Holder. This one is huge in Germany where the culture as a whole is historically fanatical about efficiency and productivity.
The most obvious benefit of the FlexDesk 640 is that it allows users to transition seamlessly between writing and typing tasks, which is of critical importance to transcriptionists and archivists, just to name a few. In real-world testing (our ErgoLab), we've demonstrated that it easily accommodates very heavy documents and binders (see video below). The versatile multi-position adjustment legs allow you to select the best angle for the job, yet let you move to a new position when you take it home from work. A pencil trough is molded into the acrylic as well... handy.
We definitely are fans of the elegant styling... chunky 5 mil acrylic covers a smart gray work platform which glides smoothly on a ball-bearing track.
Multi-functional: Refer to documents and make notes using the writing slope, which slides over the keyboard
High quality: Perfectly flat work surface, smoothly gliding rails and sturdy design using thick acrylic
Storage: Built in pencil storage and storage space for keyboard underneath
Keep your work in front of you! You risk injury and discomfort when you constantly move your neck back and forth reading documents, entering data, and then back again... A sloping work surface reduces flexion of the neck and thus increases work comfort. An 'in-line' document holder, such as the Flex Desk 640, provides a functional work surface which minimizes viewing distances between the document, screen and keyboard. Less pain = increased productivity.
