A hidden gem

I had spent months looking for a new chair that would help my back (I have an old football injury), and had tried everything from office supply stores to upscale furniture stores – everything was either too cheap and poorly made or too expensive (and not comfortable). Jeff (the owner) took the time to help me find the right chair that met my budget, but is also incredibly comfortable. He even let me take a sample chair home for a few days to make sure it was really right for me before buying my own.

Even if you’re only in the market for one chair as I was, Jeff will treat you like you’re in the market for 100. This place is a hidden gem and definitely worth checking out if you need a new chair.

Better than anyone expected

I worked with Jeff and his team on the installation of furniture in our new building. This was not a simple project. Applied Ergonomics needed to inventory, disassemble existing Trendway workstations and moveable wall, clean it all, and space plan and re-assemble them in different configurations throughout our 3-story, 60,000 square foot building in conjunction with our design firm Harley Ellis Deveraux. The Applied Ergonomics team worked diligently to “make it right” for us, and the end product turned out looking better than anyone expected. I was very impressed with the staff. Compassionate and patient

I have had persistent lower back pain for several years after an auto accident. My physical therapist recommended that I spoke with Jeff about finding a chair that would alleviate some of the pain. The first time I met with him, Jeff listened to my problems and had me try out several chairs in his office and then let me take one back to my workplace to try out. After a couple of weeks, I decided that chair did not work out, and went back to switch to a different one to try out. In total, I tried out 4 different chairs and finally decided to buy one that worked best. It took more than 3 months to find the chair that finally worked. Experience and professionalism

Outstanding service

I worked with AE to purchase a desk chair for my home office, and the service I received was outstanding. They answered all my questions about the Trendway sketch. Once the order was submitted, they gave me an accurate estimate of when the chair would arrive, and they alerted me just before it was scheduled to be delivered.

Unfortunately, when the chair arrived there was a problem with its back adjustment. When I alerted them about this they immediately arranged to have a replacement chair back sent to me and later followed up to make sure that the problem had been corrected.

Based on this experience, I am happy to give Applied Ergonomics my highest recommendation. I would also give a high recommendation to the Trendway Sketch desk chair.

Very knowledgeable

Jeff Meltzer of Applied Ergonomics came to our office to have us check out some ergonomic office chairs. We had bought some nice chairs from Jeff before. Jeff brought 3 different types of chairs and left them with us to test them out. He saw immediately that I was wearing a thumb and wrist brace and he asked me if I was having trouble when typing – I type 100 wpm and am at the computer almost all of my 9 hour work day. I told him when I do a lot I have some pain and wear the brace. He did an ergonomic evaluation of my hands and wrists – also my neck, shoulders and upper and lower back. He was able to recommend a lot of useful ergonomic items to help ease the pain of arthritis, etc. and very knowledgeable in all of these matters. I would recommend Applied Ergonomics and specifically Joe Meltzer to everyone who needs office equipment.

Flexible and willing to listen

At Automattic, everyone’s primary work space is their home office, in 30 countries around the world. We give each Automattician a home office stipend to invest in setting up their office. Jeff reaches out to Automatticians by Skype video to determine how and where they work, then makes suggestions and provides products to help them set up ergonomically correct work stations. Hard work and attention to detail

Jeff and his team faced a formidable challenge with Harris & Harris‘s move. The client decided to reuse all of their existing call center workstation product and supplement with new to accommodate their rapid growth. The AE team successfully completed a detailed inventory, developed and implemented a multiple phase and logistics and installation plan for the reused product, guided the client through the selection and order process for the new product, and managed the decommissioning of the remaining product from the client’s old 40,000 square foot facility within one week, organized and cleaned for later reuse. All of this was done on an extremely aggressive schedule, and with the directive to keep costs as low as possible. In the final analysis, the client’s new 3-floor, 70,000 square foot facility looks great while meeting the client’s functional and financial goals. Thanks in part to the hard work and attention to detail by the AE team, the project was a tremendous success.

Very impressed

I was very impressed with applied ergonomics! I started working from home in April 2018 and began having wrist pain due to using the wrong equipment. After purchasing a number of items on Amazon that did nothing to help, I found Applied Ergonomics after a google search. Initially, I requested a consultation online. D.J. immediately responded to my e-mail with a number of helpful hints to stop my wrist pain. After his e-mail, I had an in person consultation where I as able to tryout out different chairs, desks, mice, and keyboard trays among other items. I purchased a standing desk, new chair, and a keyboard tray that day! I ended up returning the keyboard tray as it did not fit my desk (which I was aware of upon purchase but naively thought that I would be able to modify it). However, there was no hassle with the return. I am also happy to report that due to my new desk and chair, I no longer have wrist pain and enjoy my work from home!
