Applied Ergonomics completes McHenry Community Health Center

Applied Ergonomics recently completed a project for the McHenry Community Health Center, a new building that was built from the ground up with federal Reinvestment Act dollars. We worked directly with the client’s CFO, COO and head of Nursing to design and provide all of the furniture, signage and art. The building’s architect, Lisa Sharp, AIA, LEED AP BD+C of Sharp Architects Inc in Dekalb Illinois, had created a wonderful space for us to work in and we designed the furniture to complement her overall vision and the client’s specific requirements to fulfill their mission. One unique feature of the clinic is that the exam rooms, which are not large, have 3-seat sofas for families to be able to sit together. These sofas feature anti-microbial wood finish and urethane arm caps, moisture barrier Crypton treated fabrics for incontinence and easy cleanability and cleanout-style backs. We used the same fabric pattern in three different colorways to complement the exam rooms’ painted accent walls, which in turn denote the three different practice areas.
